Course Summary
For students interested in careers in public service, fitness or outdoor activities, this course combines lectures and guest speaker talks with a range of practical training including outdoor pursuits, site visits and work experience. You’ll develop skills in areas including leadership, problem-solving, teamwork and communication.
Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs
4 GCSEs at grade 3 (old GCSE grade D) or above to include two from English, maths and Science, with at least a grade 2 (old GCSE grade E) in the remaining subject. Alternatively a suitable Level 1 vocational qualification with English and Maths at Level 1.

Course Details
You will learn through lectures, talks from guest speakers, visits, practical sport fitness and leadership sessions, outdoor activities and work-related experience. Work is assessed continually throughout the course.

How will it be delivered?
Students will learn through lectures, talks from guest speakers, visits, practical sport fitness and leadership sessions, outdoor activities and work related experience. Students' work is assessed continually throughout the course. You will be required to complete 65 hours of work placement with a business, particularly one that specialises in customer-facing services.
You can either seek a placement and work with our Work Placement Advisers who can sign off on your provided placement or a placement can be assigned to you by our Careers and Employability Team.

Progression and Development Sessions
All students enrolled on a Level 2 or Level 3 course will be required to attend Progression and Development sessions every week. These sessions will cover a wide range of topics from careers and employability, British Values and equality and diversity to essential life skills such as mental health and wellbeing, drugs and alcohol and personal safety.
