Childcare: Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare Level 3 Work-based (FCHD)

If you want to work in a home-based childcare setting as a registered childminder, childminding assistant or nanny, it’s the perfect course for you.

Unit 1 provides learners with the knowledge required to work with children in a home based childcare setting whilst Unit 2 prepares learners to set up a home based childcare business.

Mandatory Units

• Unit 1: Preparing to work as a home based childcarer

• Unit 2: Preparing to set up a home based childcare business

You will be assessed by your assessor using a portfolio of evidence.

Entry requirements Learners should be at least 18 years old.

Upon completion of the Level 3 Award in Preparing to Work in Home Based, learners can progress onto Early Years Educator qualifications or study subjects related to the sector You could progress your careers in the sector, working in a wide range of environments including:

• Childminders

• Childminding assistants

• Nannies

• Au pairs

• Other childcarers in home based settings
