This qualification is suitable for individuals who want to develop an awareness of issues surrounding equality and diversity for their personal development. It has been developed to address new legislation in this area which reinforces the importance of equality and diversity within different contexts. It ensures all students gain an understanding of the different issues affecting equality and diversity in today’s society, community and the workplace.

Course Details

This qualification will enable you to:

•Introduce the concepts of equality and diversity in a variety of environments including society, the community and the workplace.

•Highlight how stereotyping and labelling affect individuals.

•Outline the effects of prejudice and discrimination.

•Examine rights and responsibilities.

•Stress the importance of taking individual responsibility and action to help and support others.

•Provide a basis for further study and/or career development.

This qualification will:

•Raise your awareness of the issues surrounding equality and diversity.

•Apply this awareness through your actions in society, community and the workplace.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates your understanding of each unit. Your portfolio may include observations, completing written assignments or reports, witness testimonies or professional discussions.

Entry requirements

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, an interest in equality and diversity is desirable.
