Course Summary
Students accepted on the BA (Hons) Fine Art programme will study a range of modules that encourage questioning alongside creative and critical thinking. Modules will draw from a range of disciplines throughout the programme in order to encourage an interdependent Fine Art practice. Practical workshops will include: painting, ceramics, photography, drawing, printmaking, artists books, multimedia, 3D design, sculpture, digital media and VR.
Course Details
Students will engage in a range of practical workshops to build responses to established modules. Experienced staff and practicing artists will hold regular critiques and tutorials with students from across year groups and programmes to develop interdependent and critical thinking. Presentations, critical writing and practical investigation will encourage you to explore the boundaries of media, technologies and materials.
Art History and critical thinking workshops will help develop responses to themes and ideas that emerge from your developing practice. This includes opportunities to attend extended cultural visits and excursions to exhibitions nationwide. You will be encouraged to engage with professional opportunities through submission of work to exhibitions, events and public facing opportunities to develop your professional confidence.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Modules will be assessed through exhibitions, studio output, presentations and critical writing. Students will engage a program of critiques with peers and staff to encourage critical thinking and analysis.
Entry requirements
A portfolio of creative design work including sketchbooks and preliminary work.
GCSE English at grade C/grade 4 or above
64 UCAS Points from either subject relevant A Level or BTEC equivalent qualifications or
Access – an Access to HE Diploma or
Art and Design Foundation Diploma – Pass
We welcome applications from students with prior learning and or previous experience. Evidence should be submitted through the application and interview process.
International students must have a minimum Individual English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.0 overall (minimum 4.5 per component) or equivalent is required for our HND and Degree programmes and a minimum score of IELTS 5.5 (minimum 5.5 per component) for our degree programmes (Level 6).
