Course Summary
This first aid at work training course provides the comprehensive set of practical skills needed by first aiders in most workplaces to become a confident first aider at work
This course is designed to meet the requirements for first-aid provision by larger employers and in higher-risk workplaces under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981. Candidates successfully completing the course will be able to act as a first aider in the workplace.

The programme contains two units, both of which must be successfully completed to achieve the award.
Unit 1

•Action in an emergency
•Primary survey
•Secondary assessment
•The respiratory system
•Resuscitation
•Disorders of the circulation
•Disorders of respiration
•Wounds and bleeding
•Epilepsy
•Minor burns and scalds
•Foreign objects
Unit 2
•Bones, joints and muscle injuries
•Head and spinal injuries
•Chest and abdominal injuries
•Specialised burn injuries
•Eye injuries
•Anaphylaxis
•Poisoning
•Major illnesses
•Effects of extreme heat and cold
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment is based on your performance in the practical elements of the course and successfully completing a question paper.
Entry requirements
There are no prior qualifications required for this programme but a minimum of Level 1 literacy is recommended. The course is suitable only for candidates aged 16 plus who are physically able to carry out the assessed procedures.
