Course Summary
Retail managers are responsible for delivering sales targets and a positive experience to customers that will encourage repeat custom and loyalty to the brand / business. It is a diverse role that includes leading and developing a team to achieve business objectives and work with a wide range of people, requiring excellent communication skills. Maximising income and minimising wastage are essential to the job and therefore individuals must develop a sound understanding of business and people management principles to support the achievement of the vision and objectives of the business. Retail managers champion the way for personal development, training and continuous improvement, encouraging their team to develop their own skills and abilities to enhance business performance and productivity.

English and maths
English and maths qualifications are a requirement for most jobs and it is important that you are able to demonstrate your ability in these areas. If you do not already have a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and maths you will automatically undertake further study in these subjects as part of your apprenticeship.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will be assessed through on-programme assessment of knowledge, skills and behaviour outcomes on-route to final synoptic end point assessment, consisting of a:
written exam
retail business project
professional discussion
Entry requirements
The entry requirements for this apprenticeship will be decided by each employer, but may typically be five GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher.
It is desirable that you have English and maths at grade C/4 or above but this is not essential as Functional Skills are delivered as part of the apprenticeship programme.
You will need to find an employer to employ you as an apprentice.
