Course Summary

This course introduces you to the exciting world of Animal Care, Agriculture, and Horticulture. You’ll get hands-on experience at our Wigfield Farm campus with animal health and well-being, setting up and maintaining animal homes, and growing plants from seeds.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will complete a portfolio of practical and written evidence that shows achievement of all relevant learning outcomes. Assessment is pass/fail only.

Entry requirements

  • 2 GCSEs at grade 2 or above - one must be English
  • Acceptance onto the programme is also subject to an interview

Equipment required

All learners on land based programmes are required to wear standard uniform and also PPE for practical work in the form of steel toe capped boots and overalls.

There are several opportunities available, one of which is to carry on studying for a Level 2 Certificate in Practical Animal Care skills. Beyond college, there are many opportunities such as groomer, veterinary assistant, equine or stable work, kennel worker or pet shop assistant.
