Supports learners in developing skills of reading and analysis of texts, and encourages them to undertake wider reading to aid understanding of the texts studied. They will learn skills of effective and appropriate communication including the ability to discuss the critical context of texts.

Course Details

Requirements: 3 x GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 5 or above including English Language or English Literature. Exam centre must be able to facilitate NEA. Learners must be provided with and commit to reading the required texts. Set texts are: Frankenstein � Mary Shelley The Handmaid�s Tale � Margaret Atwood Post-2000s poetry from: Poems of the Decade A Streetcar Named Desire � Tennessee Williams Othello � William Shakespeare Selected poetry from: English Romantic Verse
