BTEC Level 2 National Extended Certificate in Sport.

This course is a Level 2 Extended Certificate in Sport and is the equivalent of 3 GCSE's. The entry requirements for the course are 5 GCSE's (under a level 4). The course is a one year 'stepping stone' to allow learners to build up the adequate knowledge base to then progress onto Level 3. Throughout the course, learners will complete various modules which are all linked directly to the full time football programme they will also be involved in. Body in Sport, Sports Coaching, Sports Leadership, Sport Nutrition, Sports Injuries and Fitness Training and Testing are all units that will be covered. As a government requirement, anybody who does not pass English or maths will also study these subjects alongside the vocational subject. As well as this, we have the fantastic aspect to our course that it pairs with a full time football programme. The learners train 3 times a week as well as having a bespoke strength and conditioning programme designed and an S&C session per week. We are in two very high level leagues. The first is the National Youth Alliance where we compete against teams such as Harrogate Town, Gateshead, Darlington, Hartlepool, The North of England Football Academy etc so it's an excellent level of football. The other league we are in is the Friday Community Development League and we play against the Community Programmes of teams such as Leeds United, Bradford Park Avenue, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and County as well as others and we also play in the FA Youth Cup.

We are all about offering quality and this is the reason we are selective in the people that we have on the course. We limit numbers to ensure quality football sessions and classes are delivered each day. Our education partner is VLUK and in a recent OFSTED inspection they were given the highest possible rating in every section. Our tutors and coaches are highly skilled and experienced. Both tutors have worked in Further Education for over a decade and both have been involved in professional and semi professional football for nearly 20 years. Our coaches are UEFA Licensed and either work or have worked in the Academies of Premier League clubs so everyone is well placed to offer the correct guidance both in the classroom, and on the field.
