Course Summary
The AQA A-level Business course provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of how businesses operate, grow and make decisions in a competitive and dynamic environment. Students explore key areas such as marketing, finance, operations and human resource management while developing analytical, problem-solving and evaluation skills.
Learning takes place through a range of methods, including case studies, real-world business examples, group discussions, and independent research, enabling learners to apply theory to practical situations. The course prepares students for further study and careers in business-related fields such as marketing, economics and law.
Course Details
The A-level Business course introduces learners to how businesses operate and make decisions.
In Year 1, students develop a foundation in key areas such as marketing, finance, operations, and human resource management, alongside understanding business objectives, leadership, and decision-making.
In Year 2, learners build on this knowledge by exploring strategic decision-making, including business growth, financial planning, marketing strategy, and the impact of external factors such as the economy and globalisation. The course develops analytical, problem-solving and evaluation skills through real business contexts.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Learners are assessed through three written examinations at the end of the course, using a combination of data response, short-answer and extended essay questions. All assessment is exam-based, with a strong focus on applying knowledge to real business scenarios and developing analytical and evaluative skills.
Entry requirements
5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4, including English Language.
PLUS
Grade 5 in Maths.
