Course Summary

Do you enjoy watching televisions shows like the Great British Bake Off? This qualification covers all the patisserie and confectionery skills and knowledge to show you have what it takes for a successful career as a pastry chef.


There will be practical elements, including the preparation and cooking of pastries, breads, cakes, confectionery and hot and cold desserts. You will train front of house in our fine dining restaurant, The Open Kitchen, studying customer service vital to working in today’s café sector. You will learn essential barista skills.

Practical assessments, coursework assignments and end of unit test papers.

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at grade 3 or above in English and maths or Level 1 Certificate in Culinary Skills or equivalent.

Equipment required

Full chef’s uniform with knives and patisserie equipment, full list will be given on interview.
