Course Summary
The OCR Level 3 Alternative Academic Qualification Cambridge Advanced National in Computing: Application Development (Certificate) is for students aged 16-19 years old. It will develop knowledge, understanding and skills that will help prepare you for progression to undergraduate study when taken alongside other qualifications and are relevant to the ICT practitioners sector.
Our Certificate in Computing: Application Development will give students an insight into how applications are designed, It will equip students with the practical skills to analyse problems and design interfaces for accessible, effective applications.
Aims:
- Develop key knowledge, understanding and skills, relevant to the subject
- Think creatively, innovatively, analytically, logically and critically
- Develop valuable communication skills that are important in all aspects of further study and life
- Develop transferable learning and skills, such as communication, creativity, critical thinking, independent learning, problem solving and time management, that are important for progression to HE and can be applied to real-life contexts and work situations
- Develop independence and confidence in applying the knowledge and skills that are vital for progression to HE and relevant to the ICT practitioners sector and more widely

How will it be delivered and assessed?
In year 12 the students will complete an exam (F160) which will be externally assessed by the exam board. They will also complete a piece of coursework (F164) which will be internally marked and externally moderated by the exam board. They will start an additional piece of coursework (F162) which will be completed in year 13.
In year 13 the students will complete an exam (F161) which will be externally assessed by the exam board. They will also complete a piece of coursework (F163) which will be internally marked and externally moderated by the exam board. They will also complete the F162 unit started in year 12 and this will be internally marked and externally moderated by the exam board.
