Course Summary

The Education and Early Years T Level focuses on child development, the role of families and support agencies, safeguarding and special educational needs. These topics allow students to delve into the specifics of social interaction, how language is acquired and understanding behaviour.

Students will complete one occupational specialism, either as an Early Years Educator or assisting teaching. The course focuses on relationship building and promoting play, development, and early education, as well as becoming a collaborative and reflective practitioner. Students who study the Early Years route are required to complete 750 hours of placement.

Course Details

The T Level in Education and Early Years is a relatively new qualification which will allow students to follow a relevant career pathway in early years, childcare or assisting teaching, or simply develop skills to prepare them for the world of work. Students who complete the Early Years Educator specialism will gain a license to practice, enabling them to enter the workplace as a qualified Level 3 Early Years Educator.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

T Level students spend 80% of their time in the classroom and the other 20% of their time on a relevant industry placement, getting real on-the-job-experience.

Students complete externally set exams at the end of each academic year and skill assessments are used to demonstrate competency skills.

Students receive an overall grade of Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*.

Entry requirements

Grade 4 in Maths and Grade 4 in English Language.
