Foundation Learning - Pathway to Independence or Employment

This is a highly supportive and positive course for learners who want to take big steps towards independence and adult life.

You will build confidence, self-belief, and important life skills to help you succeed.

The course supports your positive outcomes by helping you to:

Become more independent

Improve communication and social skills

Learn how to make choices and set goals

Prepare for further study, training, or supported employment

You will learn through active, hands-on projects that are fun and meaningful.

These projects help you:

Plan what you want to achieve

Practise problem-solving

Build a portfolio of evidence that shows your progress

You will also take part in lots of practical activities to prepare you for:

Working life

Independent living

Being more confident in the community

This course helps you move forward, grow in confidence, and get ready for your next step into adulthood.

Your programme will focus on building the skills you need for adult life.

You will work on:

Personal relationships in adulthood

Keeping yourself safe and understanding safeguarding

Knowing your rights and responsibilities

Community skills, including developing travel skills

Independent living skills, such as daily routines and decision-making

Social and personal skills to help you communicate and work with others

Work-related activities to prepare you for employment

Improving your Digital Skills, English and Maths

These learning areas support your positive outcomes by helping you grow in confidence, independence, and self-belief.

When you are ready, and after looking at your work readiness, you may also have the chance to take part in work experience.

This will help you practise real work skills and move towards supported or sustainable employment.

You will be assessed in a friendly and supportive way.

There are no exams, unless they are right for you.

Your tutors will:

Watch you take part in activities

Look at the work you do

Help you build a portfolio of your progress

They will give you regular feedback and help you see how well you are doing.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

This course is for learners who:

Need additional support to develop life skills

Would benefit from a small, supportive environment

You do not need qualifications to join.

We focus on your needs, interests, and next steps.

You may be able to move on to our FLEX VOTE programme.
