Course Summary

History is a fascinating, enjoyable and challenging subject to study. Our A-level has been designed to help students understand the significance of historical events, the role of individuals in history and the nature of change over time. This will help them to gain a deeper understanding of the past through political, social, economic and cultural perspectives. The engaging topics available to students throughout the course will provide them with the knowledge and skills they require to succeed as A-level historians.

Course Details

Students complete two modules. A breadth study and a development study. The development study considers the change and transformation that took place in Britain from 1851-1964. The depth study focuses on France in Revolution. 1774-1815. Both courses will develop students source analysis and essay writing skills. In addition students will complete a 3000 word essay on a subject of their choice covering a minimum of 100 years.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

80% Examination. One for each module. 20% Non Examined Assessment (3000 word essay)

Entry requirements

Min 5 in History & 5 in English + 3 other Grade 9-4 GCSEs
