Sport BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate (1 A Level Equivalent)

The BTEC Extended Certificate is a vocational course which combines theory and practical methods of learning in a range of different units, including Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being, Professional Development in the Sports Industry followed by optional units from Sports Leadership, Fitness Testing, Sports Psychology, and Sports Performance.
4 units are assessed: one of which is an external exam, one is a set research task on fitness training programmes and the other units are continually assessed through practical and written assignment work to achieve qualifications ranging from P to D* which is equivalent to 1 A-Level.
5 GCSE at grade 5 or above. Students must have achieved grade 5 or above in Maths and a 5 in English.

It contributes towards part of your programme of study, allowing for other A-levels or vocational courses to be studied at the same time. The course combines up to date knowledge with the right balance of practical learning and assessments delivered flexibly to develop skills needed for a sporting career or further education.
The course aims to provide an enriched learning experience that develops skills and qualifications for employment. Learners can complete optional courses including Duke of Edinburgh, umpiring awards, lifeguard qualifications, residential, sport therapy courses, career workshops and other trips/visits that link to the course content.
